Maldives Immigration has announced that, starting from August 15, 2024, outbound travelers will no longer need to complete the Imuga ‘Traveller Declaration’ form when departing the country. This change, directed by the Controller General of Immigration, aims to streamline the departure process and enhance overall efficiency for passengers.
Outlined in a recent circular, this decision is expected to significantly reduce the time required for travel preparation, making the departure experience smoother for all passengers. Frequent travelers and business professionals, who often work within tight schedules, will find this adjustment particularly beneficial. By eliminating this step, the Maldives is taking a proactive approach to improving convenience and expediting processing at departure points, further solidifying its reputation as a top destination known for both hospitality and operational excellence.
However, it’s important to note that the ‘Traveller Declaration’ form is still required for inbound travelers. All passengers, except Maldivians returning to the Maldives, must continue to submit the form at least 96 hours before their arrival. This measure ensures that necessary security and immigration checks are conducted efficiently, maintaining a safe environment for all travelers.
By prioritizing traveler convenience without compromising security, the Maldives is poised to offer an even more seamless travel experience for both visitors and residents.
As these changes take effect, passengers are encouraged to stay informed and adhere to the updated procedures to ensure smooth travel through the Maldives’ airports.
